Aaron Shapiro

Every now and then I just have to brag a little about this photographer I know, Aaron Shapiro [aka the Husb]. I really, truly dig the work he does and love to show it off here.

These are a few street photos from a recent roll he shot around Nashville. We both share a love for street art and graffiti so naturally, I'm completely enjoying these shots.

See more of his work on his website and blog.

spring charms

Spring flowers, picnics, walks in the park, sun tanned skin, lovely windy days, flying kites, gardening.
These are just some of my favorite things during these few months of spring.
What do you enjoy most?

Vintage photo collection

Remember when I said I started collecting vintage portraits? I found these beautiful photographs on my last trip to Chicago. These ladies are so lovely. I love the expressions, the natural aging of the photos, and the fashion. I get a kick out of ladies' dresses in the top photo! They are precious aren't they? There were several photos of the the lady with glasses below but I only chose two. In her photos she seems like such a fun person to be around. I like her smile on the bottom left.

This is just the beginning of my newest collection and I'm excited to see how it evolves.

Electric Blue

Current color crush: Electric Blue. I recently bought that Sally Hansen nail polish called "Electric Blue" and put it on my toes. It was love at first sight. Now I want to paint everything this color! Ok, maybe not everything...just the coffee table in my living room though.
Above, I particularly am fond of the unfold pendant. I love it's industrial feel conveniently made from rubber so it can fold. I also love the bottom left photo. Cream bedding with a splash of a blue throw.
Hope these photos leave you just as inspired as I am!

collected

Like many, I have a strange facination for collections. There's something wonderful about a grouping of the same or similar objects. What do you collect?

When I was younger it was Barbie Dolls. Then in High School it grew to notebooks used as diaries and list makers. Now that I'm older I gravitate toward heart shaped leaves, vintage cameras, craft supplies, and tickets of memorable events. Together, my husband and I collect soil from wherever we have traveled and keep it in little jars on the kitchen windowsill.

I just recently started accumulating vintage portraits. In Chicago Aaron and I ducked into a shop called Vintage Underground where I bought about 7 vintage black and white poloroids of just some interesting and fabulous ladies. I don't know where I'll put them yet or if I'll frame them or not. How do you store your collections? Once I figure out how to show them, I'll let you know :)

traveling polaroids

When Aaron first showed me Mikael Kennedy's polaroids I was amazed. I continually am wow'ed every time he posts new photos of where he has been and what he has seen through the eye of the polaroid. Please please visit his blog and you'll see more and find that you keep clicking "older posts."

For 25 dollars...

...you can hold a camera in your hands and when someone asks, "hey, where'd you get your camera?" You can say, "I made it!"

Aaron Shapiro:Photography

There must be something said about the creativity and originality that flows through the eye and click of a button to capture (and even create) a beautiful moment on film.

With that said, I'd like to showcase the person that I hold most dear,  Aaron Shapiro
When looking through his photos you see candid moments that leave you feeling like there's a great story that you want to be a part of. I am a particular fan of his portraits and Holga/Diana shots. Go to his site or blog to find out more!!
