Satin and lace slips are one of the things I love most about being a girl. This summer as I wear skirts and dresses every other day I am always wearing a fun slip underneath! It makes me feel so feminine. I also can't stand underwear lines and think it's much more fun to see a hint of lace peeking from underneath a dress or skirt. As I've scoured the internet for sweet silky things I am finding a lot of vintage gems mostly on Etsy (although Anthropologie and Victoria's Secret have some great ones too). I particularly loved this cherry red petticoat and this 50's silk beauty. Ladies, do you enjoy slips as much as I do?

Blog spotlight!
The inspiration that comes from Coury's blog Fancy Treehouse is endless, to say the least. She posts her outfits daily and also runs an online clothing shop by the same name. Most of what she wears she also sells which I think is the smartest idea to keep buying cute clothes all the time!
All photos by Fancy Treehouse. While I had followed this blog in the past, random events led me to forget about it (how? I have no idea!). Thanks to this N.E.E.T. interview it was rediscovered!

A day with Summer
Yesterday I mentioned I was heading to the park to watch 500 Days of Summer projected on a big screen. If I could imagine walking around some vintage shops with Summer I think this is what she'd be wearing. She's very classy and feminine and her dress is a bit romantic too. She might have a hairband in her hair, rosy cheeks, and dark mascara-nothing else. What a fun day we'd have together giggling and eating crepes!

Ruche Spring/Summer '11
Absolutely loving some of Ruche's summery things right now. The maxi dress never goes out of style with it's long flowiness that complements just about anyone. The hint of vintage in the la vie en rose bracelet is feminine and dainty. There are also tons of cute purses to choose from and I think I just need that beaumont meadows crossbody bag!! I love the mauve flowers! I could shop for hours and hours until my poor little fingers drop. Do you shop at Ruche often? While you're there be sure to take a peek through their lookbooks. They're always so romantic and lovely :)
Note! the purse I featured has sold out :( however the cousin to it looks like a marvelous alternative!

If I could do it again...
This wedding makes me want to get married all over again. Look at that dress! And I love the beautiful green table centerpieces.

A perfect pairing
Happy Wednesday everyone!
I am taking it easy today and thought I'd share one of my favorite new series from Sfgirbybay. In her "Separated At Birth" series she pairs up one lovely lady with an equally beautiful and inspiring interior. She does it so well I can easily see each lady living in each space. Head on over and see more fun pairings!

[Etsy Wednesday]
Today kind of became Etsy Wednesday since the last few posts are all items you can find on the wonderful Etsy.com.
Here is another must have that I am drooling over...
How gorgeous is this wrap?! It's something I'd want to wear everyday, all day.
The plumavera wrap from Zelaya's shop.

"Sex and the City" shoes
Even if these shoes may not be exactly my style, I think the DIY project for them is just fabulous. You just can't go wrong with turning an old pair of heels into something stylish, snazzy, and new!
You don't even really need a sewing machine either. Check out Hope Studios for the full project.

hobo chic knits

I am drooling over the new Shiny Happy Cotton collection from Wool and the Gang. It's a collection of ready-to-knit patterns that look great for the fall. I've been working on a few smaller projects but foresee pulling out the bigger needles for these creations.

welcome home
I'm back! I have been in lovely Alaska for the past week. Alaska is absolutely breath taking if you have not had the chance to visit. I had a wonderful time, saw many great native crafts and plan to share with you what I saw..and purchased!!
I still need some time to collect my pictures so in the mean time I have to share with you this tutorial on how to knit a bikini top. There are many patterns online if you google it but I thought this video by KnitKnit was clever and makes you want to sit and knit right now!

Sandra Backlund
I think I have died and gone to Heaven.

The current issue of Vogue Knitting magazine highlights Swedish fashion designer, Sandra Backlund. Sandra experiments with different materials to create her designs, but wool yarn seems to be her favorite. She describes her work as "collage knitting" and feels that it is how she best expresses herself.
Please please take a look at her other creations on her website.
You will be more than "wow'ed."
