If I could do it again...

Elsie & Jeremy | May 15th 2011 from Goodwin Films on Vimeo.

Such a touching wedding bursting with sweet details, color, and love! I'm totally swooning over the "Birds of a Feather" theme and thinking that if I could get married all over again (to my adorable husband) it might look something like this. Stay posted for late July when I'll be posting my own video from my very special day!!

Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!
I don't know what you're up to today but I've got a special party to host tonight. It involves Cinco de Mayo usuals like chips and dip, margaritas, colorful decorations, but with a bit of twist! I've invited all my gal friends for a fun clothing swap. It's my first ever and I can't wait to give away clothes I don't want and get some new clothes from others.
I'm loving all these decorations above and definitely have my eyes set on the top right for tonight's party. Ole!

Slip cover action

Oh my it's almost the weekend! I am spending this lovely Thursday making progress on the slip cover that I'm making with my mother-in-law! We started a few days ago and she snapped this photo of me with her phone. As you can see, my sweet Apple is trying to help as best she can ; ) Such a doll!

Making slip covers for the first time has been...well, interesting. It's just a lot of fabric! Thankfully, The Nester and Pink and Polka Dot have paved the way and shared all of their knowledge to help us. If you have any interest in learning how to sew a slip cover I'd highly recommend buying the e-book that we are using! And when it's all done and I'll be sure to share my triumph here on little plum.
Cheers everyone!

Creative Doilies

Who knew you could do so many more things with doilies than place them under a potted plant on your table? By the looks of these projects below it really doesn't take much to add a little vintage charm to any room.

Hope you enjoyed this little round-up!

Three things I am loving  today:

A new clutter free way to store ribbon...that actually looks pretty!

Thinking of buying a piano just so I can paint it this color and arrange pretty plates above it.

Love the vintage safari feel these simple fern stamps lend to a postcard.

more vertical gardens

A DIY to create something like this in your home

Really loving this vertical garden on the stairs. If you didn't really have the wall space this would be a great way to add greenery and snaz up those stairs.

* Note: This vertical garden display was created using wooly pockets. It is not a DIY.

Valentine Light Bulb

Back in February I really wanted to post this amazing Valentine Light bulb from Design*Sponge. I didn't though because I wanted to make it for my fiance and didn't want to ruin the surprise!

I ended up making it and Aaron and I used it in our engagement photo session done by Kristyn Hogan!

Design sponge DIY...

My version below!

It's a little hard to read but I wrote "You light up my life." What a fun project it was! I learned how to gut a light bulb and definitely want to make more! Thanks design*sponge!

Easter is cooommmingggg

Seeing these Easter eggs makes me want to decorate some for Easter! Can you believe how creative they are? There was some serious effort put into these and they put all the past eggs I've dyed to shame, haha. But the effort is worth it! Try it for yourself : )

top left found on design*sponge and the rest (of course) on Martha

Back to the blog: cute DIY's!

I don't know why but lately I just haven't been in the blogging mood.
Recently, however, there have just been too many wonderful and creative projects to pass up sharing!!

First off I really need to show you this cool bicycle chandelier. Yes, bicycle chandelier. Anyone could do this! I love the different types of bulbs and the color pallette. This looks very "anthropology," I love it.

Here are other ideas...

Knock Off Wood

This blog is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S. yes. I said it. My soon to be mother-in-law (that's weird to say!!!) found this gem of a blog and shared it with me.
Ana, the creator, is obsessed with furniture and finds beautiful furniture like the farmhouse tables above, creates her own plan to make the table herself, and makes knock off versions. Here is the post (with detailed plans) to make your own farmhouse table.

doily votive jars!

ok, so if you haven't noticed, I really like doilies. I don't know, there's just something about things decorated with doilies that appeals to me. I'm not even a really girly girl or anything but I love doilies and lace.

I recently got engaged (YAY!!!) and flowers and table decorations are definitely on my mind. I only want jars and bottles as vases for flowers so when I saw this I thought it was brilliant! I can still have my jars and bottles but dress them up so they look pretty : )

creative DIY from here. have fun!
